California Gold Panning is .5 mi. s. on SR 49/108, then .5 mi. w. to 17712 Harvard Mine Rd. Gold panning and sluicing on Woods Creek in the historic Harvard Mine District are taught by seasoned prospectors who relate the history and stories of the gold-mining camp. Participants can see what the early miners experienced back in the 1800s. A change of clothing is recommended for children. Guided tours are available. Picnicking is permitted. Time: Allow 2 hours minimum.
Two hours of panning and sluicing with an instructor $60; $85 (one adult and one child); $120 (family rate, two adults and two children). Three hours $75; $110 (one adult and one child); $145 (family, two adults and two children). Five hours $90; $130 (one adult and one child); $160 (family, two adults and two children). Experienced miner fee (no instruction given) $25 for 5 hours. Pan, sluice, buckets, classifier and shovel rental $25. Other packages also are offered. Reservations are required.
