California Science Center, 700 Exposition Park Dr. within Exposition Park, allows visitors to probe and ponder hundreds of hands-on exhibits about the environment, powered flight, life sciences and human innovation.

The Ecosystems gallery showcases Earth's diverse environments, divided into eight themed areas: Extreme Zone, Forest Zone, River Zone, Island Zone, Global Zone, L.A. Zone, the Rot Room and the Family Discovery Room. A kelp forest thrives within a 188,000-gallon tank, and a transparent tunnel at the tank's bottom affords a spectacular view of the forest's waving fronds and its various aquatic denizens, including leopard sharks, bat rays and moray eels.

The SKETCH Foundation Air and Space Exhibits includes a range of air and space crafts, from jet planes to flown space capsules from the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo missions. World of Life exhibits focus on the biological processes shared by all living creatures, including human beings. The Creative World area examines structures and transportation. The Weingart Foundation Gallery offers traveling exhibits. The IMAX Theater, with a seven-story screen and surround-sound, brings to life worlds as small as an atom and as vast as the universe. The Space Shuttle Endeavour exhibit is a popular highlight.

Food is available.
