Getty Center is off I-405 at 1200 Getty Center Dr.; access to the Getty Center is only via the main gate on N. Sepulveda Blvd. The centerpiece of the 110-acre complex in the foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains is the J. Paul Getty Museum and its collections of pre-20th-century European paintings, drawings, illuminated manuscripts, sculpture and decorative arts. The collection also includes photographs from photography’s early days up to the present.

The museum’s West Pavilion houses impressionist works by Manet, Monet, Renoir, Gauguin and van Gogh. A sampling of 28 modern outdoor works, including Henry Moore’s “Seated Woman” and Joan Miró’s “Figure,” are located throughout the grounds, including the sculpture garden at the tram departure station and near the West Pavilion. Visitors can follow a zigzagging path in the Central Garden, designed by artist Robert Irwin, down to a reflecting pool and an azalea maze island.

High-quality temporary exhibits are a highlight of the attraction's offerings.

Note: Visitors may experience long lines during the summer and on holiday weekends. Arrive early in the day or later in the afternoon to avoid busiest times.

Picnicking is permitted. Food is available. Time: Allow 3 hours minimum.
