AAA Editor Notes

Television Studios in various locations offer many live studio audience shows—a favorite Hollywood area “to do” since the pre-television days of network radio shows in the 1930s and '40s. Visitors can watch the director, writers, camera operators, lighting crew, actors/actresses and production staff in action. Ticket requests should be made well in advance; tickets for most shows are offered starting 30 days in advance of the filming date. For most shows, allow a minimum of 2 to 3 hours for filming or taping. Note: Audience members must check in at least 1 hour before filming is to begin, though time varies.
Tickets are free but admission is not guaranteed. Minimum age varies but is 18 for most shows.
Hours: Shows begin filming as early as 9 a.m. and as late as 10 p.m., with 4 to 7 being the most popular time period. The filming season runs July-Mar., with few shows, if any, filming during the winter holidays or from mid-May to mid-July. Tickets for comedy “pilots” or first episodes for potential fall shows are offered Mar.-May.
