The dimly lit dining room is contradicted by fireplaces burning brightly. I’m engulfed by jazzy music playing and the mood is simply romantic.

Family-owned since 1951, the restaurant is decorated with horse-racing memorabilia to trace the sport’s rich history. The racing theme extends to the food, with clever categories such as “At the Starting Gate” (appetizers) and “Little Jockeys” (kids’ menu). Starters include crab cakes and bacon-wrapped dates. Entrées run the gamut, from rack of lamb and tournedos of filet mignon to Alaskan halibut, rosemary chicken and shrimp scampi. For dessert, the delicious bread pudding is a great choice. On-site valet parking is complimentary.
