AAA Editor Notes
Mariposa Museum and History Center Inc., SR 140 at 12th and Jessie sts., contains a re-created 1850s street, including a five-stamp mill, horse-drawn vehicles and mining and printing equipment. Featured are replicas of a schoolroom, a Native American village, a miner's cabin, a print shop, a sheriff's office, a saloon and an apothecary as well as the restored house of the 1860s county treasurer.

$5; free (ages 0-18, first responders and military with ID).
Hours
Daily 10-4. Closed Jan. 1, Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas and Dec. 31. Allow 1 hour minimum.
