Aerospace Museum of California is w. off Watt Ave. at 3200 Freedom Park Dr., in McClellan Business Park. On display are more than 40 iconic military and civilian space rockets, aerospace exhibits and engines. The museum also features a number of interactive educational programs. Visitors get an up-close look at aircraft such as a fully restored 1938 PT-19, a WWII C-47 that supported the Normandy D-Day invasion, and a NASA Saturn IV First and Second State Rocket. Engines on display include a few models built prior to World War I, the first jet engine and the J-58 jet engine that powered the SR-71 Blackbird to three times the speed of sound. Six non-motion flight simulators and a motion ride simulator offer some nerve-tingling thrills.
