Aerospace Museum of California is w. off Watt Ave. at 3200 Freedom Park Dr., in McClellan Business Park. On display are more than 40 iconic military and civilian aircraft and 15 engines. The museum also features a number of cutting-edge interactive educational programs. Visitors get an up-close look at aircraft ranging from a fully restored 1932 Curtiss-Wright “speed wing” biplane to an A-10 Warthog. Engines on display include a few models built prior to World War I, the first jet engine and the J-58 jet engine that powered the SR-71 Blackbird to three times the speed of sound. Non-motion flight simulators and a motion ride simulator offer some nerve-tingling thrills.
