Squaw Valley Tram is at 1960 Squaw Valley Rd. at Squaw Valley's base village. The tram provides a full aerial view of Lake Tahoe and Squaw Valley, site of the 1960 Winter Olympics and a year-round recreation area, as it ascends to the 8,200-foot High Camp, the trailhead of the Pacific Crest Trail. In addition to hiking, visitors can roller skate, swim and shop. A museum at the summit commemorates the games. Food is available.
Tram $46; $25 (ages 5-17). Advance purchase (24 hours ahead) $36; $20 (ages 5-17).
Hours: Tram operates daily 10:40-4:20, late May-late Aug.; Sat.-Sun. 10:40-4:20, in Sept. Schedule varies during the winter ski season. Phone ahead to confirm schedule.
