AAA Editor Notes
Point Pinos Lighthouse is at 80 Asilomar Blvd., off Lighthouse Ave. Standing at the northern tip of the Monterey Peninsula, it has been guiding ships since 1855 and is the oldest continuously operating lighthouse on the Pacific Coast.
The brick lighthouse tower is part of a stone, Cape Cod-style lightkeeper's house; the different levels are connected by a spiral staircase. There are displays of buoys and Fresnel lenses and exhibits focusing on notable shipwrecks.
