Indian Grinding Rock State Historic Park is e. on SR 88/104, then 1.4 mi. n. to 14881 Pine Grove-Volcano Rd. At this site Miwok Indians once chiseled cups out of rock mortar that served as receptacles in which acorns and other seeds were pulverized for food. On the grounds of the 135-acre park are a ceremonial roundhouse and a re-created village. Chaw Se' Regional Indian Museum features artifacts, exhibits and video presentations pertaining to 10 Sierra Nevada Indian tribes.
