Pros: Brand new owner (Best Western), rooms were clean, nice hot shower, all marble shower. I was booked for 2 queens (traveling alone), they upgraded me to King room, since it was 90 percent complete with the renovation all the rooms had brand new mattresses. Refrigerator in room. 3 story with elevator. Beautifully landscaped grounds, with lavender shrubs all over, made for a great fragrance in the air. Staff was omnipresent cleaning lobby. Breakfast was good and included, Scrambled Eggs, Bacon, Waffle machine...apples and other fruits to take with you for the day out on the town. You can walk to the Pleasonton BART station from the hotel.
Cons: Location, Location, Location! It is located adjacent to the 580 freeway at Hopyard exit, so there is A LOT of traffic noise. However, the new owner (Best Western) replaced all the windows with decent windows, although only double paned. I brought this up and the owner chose double over triple because of price. However they improved the weather proofing around the door, which did help a lot. Word to the wise, ask for a room on the West Side, or the 6 rooms on the south side (2 rooms per floor for the least noise) of the building, you can still hear the cars/trucks but a considerable difference in noise. On the flip side the price was rights $100/night at least for my stay. If your like me, once you're asleep, you can't hear it. OH AND THEY DO PROVIDE EARPLUGS FREE OF CHARGE. Although the traffic noise is constant, after 8pm it did quite down. I used to live in that area, so I knew what to expect, after rush hour the 580 isn't so loud. with the orange earplugs I had no problem sleeping. All doors open to the outside, so it is motel style but Hotel style on the inside.
