Nimbus Fish Hatchery

Nimbus Fish Hatchery is .7 mi. n. of US 50 on Hazel Ave., then w. on Gold Country Blvd. to 2001 Nimbus Rd. On the American River, the hatchery raises chinook salmon and steelhead trout for release into the Sacramento River system. Visitors can see the raceway ponds where the fish are raised, the fish ladder used during spawning season, and a visitor center with a video presentation and exhibits about the fish, ecology and conservation. A .25-mile trail runs downstream from the fish ladder.
