AAA Editor Notes
National Steinbeck Center is at One Main St. The complex includes John Steinbeck Exhibition Hall; the Rabobank Agricultural Museum, which has exhibits about the agricultural history of the Salinas Valley; and the Gabilan Gallery, which displays changing art and cultural exhibits.
Steinbeck Exhibition Hall features several themed galleries with interactive exhibits about Steinbeck's life and literature. Stage settings and film clips help bring this Nobel prize-winning author's works to life; other displays allow you to explore “Cannery Row” and “Of Mice and Men.” Visitors also can see the camper that transported the author and his poodle Charley across America, an experience that was the basis for the episodic travelogue “Travels with Charley.”
Time: Allow 2 hours minimum.
