AAA Editor Notes

Petco Park is at 100 Park Blvd. Built in 2004, this innovative baseball stadium boasts a number of atypical design features, from Park at the Park, a 2.7-acre plot just beyond the outfield fence with a grassy knoll for picnicking as well as a Little League baseball diamond, to the Western Metal Supply Co., a historic building preserved and incorporated into the park's layout. Departing from the Western Metal Supply Co. building (Tony Gwynn Drive/7th Avenue and K Street), the behind-the-scenes guided tour of the facility encompasses nearly all “front of the house” areas that are accessible to the public as well as the Padres' dugout area (based on availability), the press box and exclusive lounges. There are stairs and ramps involved in the tour, which lasts about 80 minutes. Photo opportunities are available. Guided tours are available. Time: Allow 1 hour, 30 minutes minimum.
Guided tour $15; $10 (ages 4-12, ages 60+ and active military with ID). Reservations are recommended.
Hours: Behind-the-scenes guided tours are given daily at 10:30, 12:30 and 3, Apr.-Aug.; daily at 10:30 and 12:30 (also Sat. at 3), rest of year. Schedule varies on home game days. Phone ahead to confirm schedule.
