San Diego Air & Space Museum, in Balboa Park in the Ford Building at 2001 Pan American Plaza, is a Smithsonian Institution affiliate. Highlights include the Apollo 9 Command Module, a replica of Lindbergh's Spirit of St. Louis and the only Global Positioning Satellite on public display. Interactive exhibits include a MaxFlight simulator and a 3-D/4-D movie theater. The Kid's Aviation Action Hangar encourages play. A 45- to 60-minute tour of the aircraft restoration facility also is available. Note: San Diego Air & Space Museum Gillespie Field Annex and its additional displays can be found about 19 miles away on the north side of Gillespie Field. Guided tours are available.
$19.50; $16.50 (ages 65+ and students and retired military with ID); $10.50 (ages 3-11); free (active military with ID). Guided restoration tour $5; $4 (ages 65+ and students and retired military with ID); $3 (ages 3-11). Flight simulator $8. Combination and multiday tickets are available with participating Balboa Park attractions.
Hours: Daily 10-5. Guided tours depart as requested 10-3. Last admission 30 minutes before closing. Closed Thanksgiving and Christmas.
