Whaley House, 2482 San Diego Ave., was built by Thomas Whaley in 1857 and is thought to be the first and oldest two-story brick house in Southern California. The building, said to be haunted, has served as a residence, store, courthouse and theater; it now showcases period interiors.</br>Guided tours are available.</br>
Before 5 p.m. $8; $6 (ages 3-12 and 65+). After 5 p.m. $13; $8 (ages 3-12 and 65+).

Hours: Daily 10-9:30, Memorial Day-Labor Day; Thurs.-Sat. 10-9:30, Sun.-Tues. 10-5, rest of year. Last tour departs 30 minutes before closing. Closed Thanksgiving and Christmas. Phone ahead to confirm schedule.
