Chinatown Alleyway Tours meet at Portsmouth Square at Washington and Kearny sts., near the elevators to the Portsmouth Square Garage. The approximately 90-minute tours, sponsored by the Adopt-An-Alleyway Youth project, are led by Chinatown residents and intended to provide visitors with information about Chinatown's history and cultural traditions based on their own perspective. Although the guides are young and often inexperienced, you will still learn some fascinating historical tidbits while roaming the neighborhood's streets and tiny back alleys.
Street parking is very limited; using public transportation to get to the tour departure point is recommended. Tours require a minimum of four participants.
