Pros: The location was great, the staff friendly and helpful. The room was OK but not what you would expect for nearly $400 a night. No coffee making facilities.... A very limited range of TV channels....
Cons: The breakfast was awful. Stale croissants, sticky muffins, and a bowl of grapes. Two cereals in tubs. Much more could have been provided for the money we paid. Maybe bagels and a toaster and cream cheese. Perhaps wide range of cereals in individual packets, a decent selection of fruit..... etc. There was no margarine or soy milk for lactose intolerant people.

Pros: The White Horse Tavern was an easy place to have some dinner. Very nice bartender and had fun without walking.
Cons: This hotel was dated and old and we were surprised that there was no AC (but normal for SF I guess) and a big fan to plug in was provided and we were grateful. We booked it as it was supposedly close to the BART but really wasn't after walking with our luggage from there.

Pros: The little pub/restaurant was excellent and very lively in the evenings. Even locals joined in the fun. We enjoyed meeting other travelers from other countries.
The whole ambiance of the hotel was charming, like a step back in time.
The staff were friendly and extremely helpful as far as walking directions, places to visit, how to get uber.

Pros: Very friendly staff. Spotlessly clean rooms. All staff were smartly turned out in clean, pressed uniforms.( This is unusual in a hotel in this price range). Honour bar in room was great value. The prices were better than buying in a shop.

Cons: The bathroom window had no window on. Eventually that caused that our room was freezing cold during nights. When showering the cold air was constantly blowing through it, which was really unpleasing. The room and the whole hotel is old and not well maintained. There is constant weird smell.And don't get me started with the staff. Even though we declined the luggage help, they insisted, which eventually lead giving them a tip. Luggage storage is free. But once they stored our luggage, they repeated four times :"the luggage storage is free guys", implying to us that we should give them a tip. And its not that we are cheap, but this is creepy way to get a tip.

Pros: I have been staying at the Hotel Beresford for at least 30 years whenever I'm in the City. It is always a good price, clean rooms and close to Union Square. Plus the White Horse is nice to have also. This trip I noticed the upgrades to the rooms with new linens and carpeting. (New since I have been there.) Everything looked great and we slept well and enjoyed the amenities like ironing board and fan. I will always check out Hotel Beresford and Beresford Arms when I return to SF.
Cons: Nothing. Everything was good.

Cons: Took over 30 minutes to get my car... They should have told me when we checked in that it would be awhile. When we checked out there were many people waiting at the same time in a very small lobby. Many people were annoyed. Only 2 people retreating cars at checkout was very inconvenient.

The room - right next to the pub (connected to hotel) so barely got any sleep, and they couldn't move us, if we had known that we would be placed next to the pub we would have booked elsewhere, very misleading. The storage was old, and difficult to open and close. Hardly any walking space, couldn't iron clothes
Housekeeping - The room was not cleaned only the bed was made, the cushions and towels left on the floor, not sure if they were fresh towels or now. Generally housekeeping make the room look the way it was when you first walked in, it wasn't a great job.
