I usually stay in San Francisco at the Marine Memorial Club, of which I'm a member. Unfortunately, that popular spot ids often sold out. I'm glad to have the REX Hotel as a comfortable and convenient backup.
Pros: I was especially impressed by the friendly, helpful attitude of every staff member I encountered.

Cozy and romantic, right in...
Pros: Right in the center, very cozy - it is not a large chain hotel, but clean and comfortable.
Cons: No parking, although it advertises. Valet ($49) is ok if you're staying for full day, but not for overnight. Then you need to check public parking or 2 hours on the street. Extra charges for the "tourist tax" around $35 add up to the price, so the stay in SF becomes expensive, but this is probably the best option there is.

Great location.
Pros: Location to Union Square great, most things walkable from here. Good room size. Nice happy hour coupon system.
Cons: Wifi didn't work on the top floor but did ok in the lobby. Noisy street, but it is downtown San Fran. Pricey but everywhere is around here.

We will definitely return!
Pros: Very cool! Rooms are historic, and the elevator was broken on arrival but fixed later that day. Everyone was friendly, and I loved the vibe.
