Pros: Different and funky, lovely staff, warm heated pool, free continental breakfast.
Cons: Really undesirable party of town, countless homeless people, smelly area, felt uncomfortable walking around, and just too far from all the tourist sites. Shame, as it is nice to stay in an interesting hotel for a change.

Pros: Very trendy hotel with some history. Staff is great and knowledgeable. Wished we were able to stay more nights. Easy to walk to delicious restaurants.
Cons: Safe to walk around the area, but the area is a little rough with a lot of transients on the streets.

Pros: The vibe in the Phoenix was so chill, accomodating, and alive. The rooms were clean, the beds were comfy. We loved the staff, it was a small crew and they often knew us by name. The pool was so fun, they keep it fairly warm, as well as the courtyard. The Chambers was also fantastic!
Cons: No mini Fridge, wifi was restricted so we couldn't download anything or stream without paying more. We didn't spend a ton of time in the room but just good to know if you need that kind of thing. The walk between the hotel and the Bart was extra sketch, have your wits about you or better yet just Uber/Lyft everywhere as it actually is amazingly affordable. We also had trouble with the cups having holes in them, I think just a bad batch.

Pros: Great vibe at the hotel. It's bit loud on nights when the adjacent bar is open and people are using the pool area, but they close this all off from 12pm and it didn't bother us.
Cons: The Tenderloin has a lot of great places to eat and go out, but just be on your guard as there are a lot of people begging for money or affected by drugs. We didn't feel unsafe but didn't wander around outside the hotel in the evening.
