AAA Editor Notes

Sausalito Wooden Boat Tour departs from various Sausalito locations. Wooden boats and historic vessels are highlighted on a waterfront walking tour. Guests will see Sausalito's houseboat communities, World War II Liberty shipyards, art studios and a wooden boat center, and observe ongoing construction of the Matthew Turner tall ship. The tour guide, a Sausalito artist and author, weaves poetry, music, dancing and philosophy into her insider-flavored waterfront tales. The tour also stops at the world-famous Heath Ceramics store and finishes with tea and cookies at the boat lettering shack. This in-depth, 3-hour excursion will be most interesting to those with a specific interest in houseboat history, Sausalito waterfront history or both. A waterfront treasure hunt is also offered. Wear weather-appropriate clothing and comfortable shoes, and bring a bottle of water. There are two bathroom breaks along the route.
Tour fee $50; $25 (one child under age 12 per paying adult). Check availability and book a tour directly from the website. Reservations are required.
Hours: Tours depart Sat.-Sun. at 12:30. Bookings require at least two participants. Closed major holidays.
