AAA Editor Notes
West Kern Oil Museum, w. of SR 33 and SR 119 at 1168 Wood St., celebrates the story of oil from the Native Americans' uses of asphaltum 8,000 years ago to the present. It preserves artifacts, photographs and equipment from the early oil fields on an 8-acre property. Exhibits include a 1912 oil field office, tent house, motor transport building, rebuilt 1936 Bender rig and replica of a 106-foot wooden derrick.
