AAA Inspector Notes
Inspector Pick (Classification): I'm drawn to the comfortable decor and calming colors in the main parlor and breakfast room. I love how each room is unique with many historic extras.
Fully refurbished and furnished in Eastlake-style furniture for a modern feel, rooms are located in a historic 1890's hotel and in newer out buildings. Many rooms have private balconies or patios to enjoy the sun and fresh air. Smoke free premises. 17 units. 2 stories (no elevator), interior/exterior corridors.

We went to Lake County for a wine festival. The festival was just so-so, but the Tallman Hotel made it worth the 3-hr drive. What a pleasant surprise-a beautifully refurbished hotel with all the comforts, great live music on the weekends, good food at the adjacent restaurant, and excellent breakfast with home-made bakery goods. All the personnel were very professional as well as friendly. Upper Lake is not an interesting town, but this is a great place for a quiet retreat.
Pros: Beautifully restored hotel with a pool, live music, and a good restaurant adjacent. What more can one ask?
Cons: Wish I had worn long pants and socks while dining on the veranda. Mosquitos feasted on my legs and ankles. (There are mosquito-repellant lights above the tables that kept our arms and faces safe.)
