Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge, 7 mi. s. on CR 99W, provides a nearly 11,000-acre wintering area for migratory birds, especially ducks and geese. More than 265 bird species frequent the area. The best season to view waterfowl is November through February. A 6-mile auto tour route and a 2-mile self-guiding walking trail meander through part of the refuge. Other refuges in the Sacramento Valley National Wildlife Refuge Complex are Colusa, Delevan, Sacramento River and Sutter.

Hours: Refuge open daily 1 hour before dawn-1 hour after dusk. Visitor center open daily 9-4, Nov.-Feb.; Mon.-Fri. 9-4, rest of year.
