Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge, 7 mi. s. on CR 99W, provides a nearly 11,000-acre wintering area for migratory birds, especially ducks and geese. More than 265 bird species frequent the area. The best season to view waterfowl is November through February. A 6-mile auto tour route and a 2-mile self-guiding walking trail meander through part of the refuge. Other refuges in the Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge Complex are Colusa, Delevan, Sacramento River and Sutter.
