Calico Ghost Town Regional Park is at 36600 Ghost Town Rd. Calico was a booming silver-mining town from 1881 to 1896. When the price of silver dropped in 1895, the mines stopped producing and Calico became a ghost town. One-third of the buildings are original. Attractions include a 2-hour mine tour, mystery shack and train ride. The Lane House and Museum is furnished with period antiques. Gold panning, seasonal horseback riding, a 3-hour muleback tour and ghost tours of the mine or town are offered. Mountain bike and off-road vehicle trails are on the grounds. Guided tours are available. Pets on leash are allowed. Camping is permitted. Food is available.
Park $8; $5 (ages 6-15); $1 (dog). Admission may be higher during special events. Train ride $4; $2.50 (ages 6-15). Mystery shack, mine tour or gold panning $2.50. Combination tickets are available. Ghost tour $10; $5 (ages 5-10); reservations are required.
Hours: Grounds daily 8-dusk. Attractions and shops daily 9-5. Lane House and Museum daily 10-4. Ghost tours offered Sat.; departure times vary. Closed Christmas.
