Tuolumne Meadows is in the High Sierra, about 56 mi. from Yosemite Valley over Big Oak Flat and Tioga rds. At 8,600 feet in elevation and surrounded by lofty peaks, the area is ideal for camping and fishing, hiking and mountain-climbing.
Trips can be taken on foot or horseback to Waterwheel Falls, Mount Lyell, Lyell Glacier, Lembert Dome, Glen Aulin, Muir Gorge, Soda Springs and Tenaya Lake. Nature walks, hikes and evening campfire programs are conducted seasonally. Saddle horses, gas station, store and post office services and a mountaineering school and guide service also are available.
Tuolumne Meadows is accessible by car from about early June-Oct. 31. Daily bus service from Yosemite Valley is available early June to mid-Sept. (weather permitting), as are walks, hikes and campfire programs.
