Yosemite Valley Visitor Center and Wilderness Center is in Yosemite Village; take El Portal Rd. (SR 140) e. 3.3 mi. to Southside Dr./Tecoya Rd., then .3 mi. to Village Dr. The center provides detailed trip-planning information about the park, offering maps, books, exhibits and audiovisual programs. An orientation film called “Spirit of Yosemite” is shown in the Valley Visitor Center Theater. Also featuring information about the park's backcountry and wilderness areas, it contains a variety of displays for hikers and climbers. Interactive exhibits for children include a bear cave and a simulated sequoia tree and glacier.

Hours: Visitor center daily 9-6, year-round. Wilderness center daily 8-5, May-Oct. The film is shown Mon.-Sat. every 30 minutes 9:30-5:30, Sun. every 30 minutes noon-5:30.
