AAA Editor Notes
Temple of the Inscriptions (Templo de las Inscripciones) is to the right as you enter the Agua Azul Waterfalls site. This 90-foot-tall pyramidal structure is one of Palenque's most impressive. The temple was the final resting place of Pacal, the king who ruled Palenque for almost 70 years beginning at the ripe old age of 12. It is believed to be one of the only temples in Mexico constructed expressly to be a tomb. A steep flight of stone block stairs descends to the royal crypt (closed to visitors). Note: Climbing on the pyramid is not permitted.
