Barrancas del Cobre Adventure Park (Parque de Aventuras Barrancas del Cobre) is in Divisadero, 2 km (1.2 mi.) s. of the Barrancas train station. A Swiss-built aerial tram (teleférico) in Divisadero consists of 60-passenger gondolas that travel between the village and the canyon some 1,150 feet below. The tram trip takes about 20 minutes. The park is at the lower tram station. For thrill seekers and adventure junkies the unquestionable highlight is the seven ziplines (tirolesas), one of them almost a mile in length. It's an amazing way to see the Copper Canyon by literally flying through it. There are many other activities available, including rock climbing, rappelling, mini-golf, bungee jumping for kids and an events amphitheater. The fact that the park is built on the edge of the canyon means that all of these activities also come with incredible views. Recreational activities are permitted. Food is available. Time: Allow 2 hours minimum.
Park entrance fee 20 pesos; free (ages 0-10). Tram ride 250 pesos (about $13.40 U.S.); 125 pesos (ages 0-10). There are separate fees for the ziplines and for other activities.
Hours: Trams depart daily 9-4:30. Ziplines operate daily 9-1.
