AAA Editor Notes
Ghost Town of Ashcroft, 11 mi. s. on Castle Creek Rd., is a weather-beaten vestige of its mining camp heyday. Lack of resources and rail service to the mines caused the town’s demise by 1890, although residents had hoped their town would someday rival Aspen in importance. The Aspen Historical Society conducts tours of the town; self-guiding tours also are available. Interpretive signage and brochures are available on site.

Guided tours are available.
