Barney Ford House Museum is at 111 E. Washington Ave. The museum depicts the life of Ford, a former slave who escaped via the Underground Railroad. His travels eventually led him to Colorado, where he became a civil rights pioneer and a successful restaurant and hotel owner. Exhibits focus on Ford and other African-Americans of the era.

Hours: Tues.-Sun. 11-4, mid-June to early Sept.; Tues.-Sun. 11-3, early Sept. to mid-Oct. and mid-Dec. to late Apr.; Fri.-Sun. 11-3, rest of year. Phone ahead to confirm schedule. Allow 30 minutes minimum.
