AAA Editor Notes
Western Museum of Mining and Industry, e. of I-25 exit 156A (Northgate Blvd.) at 225 Northgate Blvd., displays restored, operating steam engines and mining equipment used in early Western mines on its 27 acres. The museum offers a 20-minute film, a rock and mineral display, gold panning demonstrations, exhibits about mining life and a re-created mine drift as well as hands-on exhibits. Guests may pan for gold, visit with the museum’s mascot burros and see machinery, a stamp mill and a reclamation project. Special exhibits and events are featured during the year. A research library is available with advance notice.

Guided tours are available. Picnicking is permitted.
