Creede Underground Mining Museum, .5 mi. n. of jct. SR 149 and Creede Ave., is housed in rooms blasted out of solid rock. Exhibits trace the history of mining from the 19th century to the present. A 30-minute narrated self-guiding audio tour is available. Retired miners lead guided tours, explaining equipment and methods of mining; reservations are recommended.
Note: The temperature in the cave is 51 degrees Fahrenheit; warm clothing is recommended.
