Clear Creek History Park is 1 blk. w. of Washington Ave. on 11th St. Costumed interpreters depict 19th-century Colorado pioneer life in living history demonstrations, including presentations about foods grown by the pioneers. Historic buildings, originally homesteaded in a nearby canyon, include 1870s cabins, a blacksmith shop and an 1876 one-room schoolhouse. Several heritage gardens include heirloom chickens and a working bee hive. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
Free. $3. Combination ticket with Golden History Center $5. Some programs and events charge an additional fee.
Hours: Park open daily dawn-dusk. Buildings open for paid tours, events and programs on occasion. Closed major holidays. Phone ahead to confirm schedule.
