Colorado Railroad Museum, off I-70W exit 265 to 17155 W. 44th Ave., houses records and artifacts of early Colorado railroads. More than 100 locomotives and train cars, some of which can be boarded, are displayed. The main museum building, modeled after an 1880s depot, also contains an extensive model railroad collection and two floors of photographs and artifacts. A coin-operated HO-scale model train layout is on the lower level. A train restoration center in the roundhouse is open for viewing. Rides aboard a 19th-century passenger car are available most Saturdays.
Self-guiding audio cell phone tours are available.
