AAA Editor Notes
The Lariat Loop National Scenic Byway links a number of parks and attractions in the foothills west of Denver. Beginning at US 6 w. of SR 470, the tour passes through Golden and follows the Lariat Trail up Lookout Mountain, then continues south along mountaintops via Lookout Mountain Road. After descending to Evergreen, the route follows Bear Creek Canyon to Morrison, goes north to Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre and Dinosaur Ridge, then back to US 6 and Golden. The 40-mile route is marked by blue and white Scenic Byway columbine signs.
Brochures with maps are available at the Golden Visitors Center, the Buffalo Bill Museum on Lookout Mountain, Dinosaur Ridge in Morrison, Hiwan Homestead Museum in Evergreen and other sites along the Loop.
