Dinosaur Ridge is w. of SR 470 at 16831 W. Alameda Pkwy. Dinosaur Ridge is the site of such paleontological discoveries as dinosaur bones and tracks, plant and animal fossils, and rock formations from the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods. Twenty interpretive signs help visitors identify these features along the ridge. The visitor center has large murals and interactive exhibits. Shuttle bus tours of the outdoor museum grounds are available. Time: Allow 1 hour, 30 minutes minimum.
Free. Shuttle bus tour $5; free (ages 0-3); boarding is first come, first served.
Hours: Mon.-Sat. 9-5, Sun. 10-5, June-Aug.; Mon.-Sat. 9-5, Sun. 11-5, Apr.-May and Sept.-Oct.; Mon.-Sat. 9-4, Sun. 11-4, rest of year. Forty-minute shuttle bus tours board hourly (half-hourly June-Aug.) at 10 a.m. at the visitor center; last bus leaves at 4 p.m. (May-Oct.) and 3 p.m. (rest of year). Closed Jan. 1, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
