Steelworks Museum is at 215 Canal St. The museum provides an overview of some 120 years of operations of the Colorado Fuel & Iron Company, which controlled the Western steel and mining industry for many years. The primary exhibit covers the period 1915-1936; topics include the steel mill, coal mines and the C&W Railway. The Mine Rescue Car, just outside the building, is a train car once used as a first-aid training station and rescue car to aid trapped or injured miners. Rotating exhibits from the Colorado Fuel & Iron Company and interactive children's displays also are available.
