American Clock and Watch Museum is 2 blks. s. off US 6 at 100 Maple St. Housed in the 1801 Miles Lewis House, the museum contains eight galleries of timekeeping artifacts. Displayed are more than 5,500 clocks and watches dating from the 1690s. Exhibits include grandfather clocks, shelf clocks, novelties and church-tower clocks. Many strike simultaneously on the hour.
Connecticut Clockmaking and The Industrial Revolution, an 1890 Victorian clock and watch store and a sundial garden, are highlights.
