Butler-McCook House & Garden is at 396 Main St. The oldest surviving homestead in Hartford, the 1782 house contains a collection of four generations of 18th- and 19th-century furnishings, art and household items. Highlights include Victorian-era toys and paintings, a period garden and a significant Civil War collection. Guided tours are available. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
$10; $8 (senior citizens, educators and students with ID); $5 (ages 6-18); $20 (family, two adults and all children).
Hours: Thurs.-Sun. noon-4, May-Sept.; Sat.-Sun. noon-4, Oct.-Dec. Last tour departs 30 minutes before closing.
