My ideal romantic dinner would be sitting at a candlelit table, listening to the crackling fireplace while being catered to by this attentive staff.
AAA Inspector Notes
Historic. Experience a slice of Old New England while dining at this 18th-century home that has been beautifully restored to its original grandeur. Request a table by the fireplace or by a window overlooking the impressive 113-acre country estate. A three or four-course menu changes daily and offers creative preparations based on what's growing on their farm and also per the diner's dietary restrictions which are learned ahead of time. An incredible wooden staircase within a silo is constructed from the salvaged timbers of the various barns that originally stood on the same site and leads to the upper-level restaurant. Lovely original oil paintings complement the historic nature of the property yet give it a refined and upscale appeal. Creative preparations such as white asparagus, fig and prosciutto salad with quail egg and balsamic vinaigrette or pan-seared skate with lobster over corn and red pepper salsa. A fine selection of European cheeses complement the end to a terrific meal or you may want to indulge in the trio of desserts, such as the mini chocolate soufflé, rhubarb soup and banana parfait. A refined service staff will cater to your needs.
