Classic. Known as the original grinder shop in the country, this spot is widely recognized as offering the best Italian grinders in Connecticut. The soft loaf of bread is topped with imported Italian Pruzitini ham, capicola, salami, provolone cheese, mayo, lettuce, tomato, olives, hot sauce and the classic mix which is a highly kept secret blend of onions and green peppers. Other cold and hot grinders include chicken parmigiana, sausage and peppers and a turkey club. Owned and operated by a third generation Nardelli family member, the staff pride themselves for serving guests with a smile and do a nice job of remembering the names and orders of the shop's regulars. If you the leave the counter staff a tip they will graciously recognize it by ringing a bell and saying grazie. Wash your meal down with a refreshing Nardelli-brand bottle soda and be sure to save room for dessert—the cheesecake-filled burrito is delicious.
