New Britain Museum of American Art

New Britain Museum of American Art is at 56 Lexington St. On view in 22 galleries are special exhibitions and 450 highlights of the permanent collection taken from more than 11,500 paintings, illustrations, sculptures, mixed media and new media that trace the history of American art from 1740 to the present. Included are the celebrated murals by Thomas Hart Benton and Graydon Parrish's 9/11 memorial as well as works by artists of the Hudson River School including James McNeill Whistler, Georgia O'Keeffe, the Eight, the Wyeths, Titus Kaphar and Dale Chihuly.
