Yale Peabody Museum of Natural History is at 170 Whitney Ave. at Sachem St.; visitor parking is 1 blk. n. at the s. end of Yale lot No. 22. The museum features fossils of dinosaurs and prehistoric mammals, dioramas of North American habitat groups and birds of Connecticut and collections devoted to the Pacific Islands, the Plains Indians, ancient Egypt and Central and South America. A 70-minute audio tour provides an inside look at some of the exhibits. Guided tours are available. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
$13; $9 (ages 65+); $6 (ages 3-18 and college students with ID); free (Thurs. 2-5, Sept.-June). Guided tours or audio tour free with museum admission. Parking: $3.
Hours: Museum open Tues.-Sat. 10-5, Sun. noon-5. Guided tours depart Sat.-Sun. at 12:30 and 1:30. Closed Jan. 1, Easter, July 4, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas.
