Yale University Art Gallery is at 1111 Chapel St. The oldest university art museum in the Western Hemisphere was founded in 1832 with a gift from patriot and artist John Trumbull. The collection of more than 200,000 objects span ancient times to the present and includes American, African, Asian, European, 20th- and 21st-century art and design, photography and Indo-Pacific art. Highlights include works by Winslow Homer, Edward Hopper, Pablo Picasso, Mark Rothko and Vincent van Gogh.
