AAA Inspector Notes
This French-style bistro/bar specializes in offering gourmet cheeses as well as charcuterie, preserves, oils, vinegars and spices that are artisanal and from local and global markets. Dishes are distinctively presented on a wood cutting board of different sizes including some long rectangular types. The street level dining room is narrow and cozy with high-top tables around the bar and cookbooks lining one wall. Downstairs is a small subterranean dining space leading to the in-house cheese shop. Outdoor street-side dining is available during warmer months. Guests often comment on the warm rustic feel of the place from the distinctive red stitching on the country-style cloth napkins, the clip boards used to hold the menu and the marinated pickle jar on each table. Servers are friendly and make you feel at home. Can't choose between the cheese or charcuterie boards? Then ask your server for a mix of both. You also can get a board of local breads, preserves and pickles or the superb moules-frites which are Prince Edward Island mussels steamed with white wine and garlic and served with seasoned french fries and house mayo.
