Children's Museum of Southeastern Connecticut is at 409 Main St. The hands-on museum gives young visitors from 9 months to 9 years of age an opportunity to explore, discover and create. Indoor and outdoor exhibits are designed to accommodate children of all abilities. At Imagination Station, kids can climb aboard a fire truck, become a sailor and steer their own fishing boat and shop for fruit and vegetables to prepare a pretend meal. The Discovery Room features tree frogs, hermit crabs and a bearded dragon. Don't miss the kid-designed outdoor tree house with a view of Long Island Sound.

Hours: Tues.-Sat. 9:30-4:30, Sun. noon-4:30 (also Mon. 9:30-4:30, mid-June through late Aug.). Closed Easter, Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day, first week in Sept., Thanksgiving, Christmas and Dec. 31. Phone ahead to confirm schedule. Allow 1 hour minimum.
