Dinosaur State Park is off I-91 exit 23, then 1 mi. e. to 400 West St. A geodesic dome covers the sandstone trackway in which 500 dinosaur footprints from the Lower Jurassic period have been preserved. The exhibit center includes life-size dioramas and interactive displays. On the grounds are nature trails, display gardens and the Dinosaur State Park Arboretum, which features living examples of plant species from the age of dinosaurs. A Track Casting area enables guests to make castings of the footprints. Phone ahead for a list of supplies necessary for Track Casting area. Pets on leash allowed in picnic area only. Picnicking is permitted.
Exhibit center $6; $2 (ages 6-12).
Hours: Grounds and exhibit center open Tues.-Sun. 9-4:30. Trails close at 4. Track Casting area daily 9-3:30, May-Oct. Closed Jan. 1, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
