Torrington History Museum is adjacent to the Hotchkiss-Fyler House at 208 Main St. Photographs and artifacts depict the city's past, including Native American settlement, English Colonial history, industrialization, immigration and many unique aspects of the community such as a display about the birthplace of abolitionist John Brown. Displays in a 1930s-era machine shop chronicle the history of the Hendey Machine Company, which produced lathes, shapers and milling machines.
