Classic. Widely recognized as offering the best Italian grinder in the state with more than 4,000 sold per week, this spot is the first franchised location since the original two stores opened. The soft loaf of bread is topped with imported Italian pruzitini ham, capicola, salami, provolone cheese, mayo, lettuce, tomato, olives, hot sauce and the classic mix (a highly-kept secret blend of onions, cucumbers and green peppers). Other cold and hot grinders include chicken parmigiana, sausage and peppers and a turkey club. Glass counters showcase deli meats, platters of homemade salads and antipasti, as well as some pre-cooked dinners. Guests wait in line to order, then choose their own table to sit and eat. The walls are covered with awards they have won as well as some other imported Italian items for sale. If you leave the counter staff a tip, they will graciously recognize it by ringing a bell and saying grazie—a tradition since opening in 1922.
